This is sure to be a good time as we will have fieldside tickets! Afterwards, Andrew Holmes has invited us to travel to his new apartment in Tremont for a post-game party.

The Start! Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s premiere event for raising funds to save lives from this country’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers – heart disease and stroke.

Designed to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living, the Start! Heart Walk creates an environment that’s fun and rewarding for the entire family.

  • The 2010 Start! Cleveland Heart Walk will take place at Mall C- located on Lakeside Ave. between E. 9th St. and W. 3rd- next to the Courthouse. The Start! Cleveland Heart Walk will have a 1 mile and 3 mile walk in downtown Cleveland. It is a family-friendly event with your local Cleveland sports mascots, inflatables, face-painting and more in the Medical Mutual Kids’ Zone! We will also have live music, give-aways, and health screenings. See you there!WalkersThis year, more than 1 million walkers will participate in nearly 350 events. Your participation will help us

raise even more in our fight to save lives. Walk with friends, family, coworkers or strangers you’ll bond with along the way.

Following this event we will get together afterward to Celebrate Patrick’s Birthday over at Ruth and Patrick’s place! More details to come!

The tradition of St. Barnabas Church is to have its annual parish picnic on a Sunday close to St. Barnabas Day. This is a day to celebrate that God has called us into His family at St. B’s and also to celebrate the graduation of the seniors who will be heading off to college. We will gather together as God’s family in the beautiful courtyard and front lawn to eat burgers, play Cornhole, and relax on a Sunday afternoon after worshiping together. As part of St. Barnabas, the Westshore Forum invites everyone to come and enjoy this time together. Afterwards, the Westshore Forum will continue their study of Ancient – Future Evangelism. Nope, that is not a typo. The name of the film is Metropolis and it was an interesting, albeit long, look into early motion pictures. Metropolis is a silent film which deals with the strife between the educated and working classes of the industrialized world. It was fascinating to see the film’s take on this and even more especially so since this was a German movie filmed before the advent of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party’s popularity. Additionally, just seeing the special effects of 1928 and filming technique was fascinating. All in all, the Westshore Forum is pleased to have and offer such cultural experiences.

It was great to all get together at Patrick and Ruth’s home. The Saturday potluck/party was decidedly a success. Some fine dishes and great conversation. I can speak to the fact that the men of the group joined together for some great fellowship outside on the porch with some cigars to spur on the discussion. Discussions ranged from politics, to sports to faith, to travel. We were even treated to an impromptu flute and piano duet! It was an enjoyable event and a great opportunity to get to know each other better. Yet another cheers to Patrick and Ruth for hosting!

Mark your calendars for May 8th. The Westshore Forum event will be in conjunction with a St. Barnabas event. St. B’s has obtained a block of tickets to the 1:00pm game against the Detroit Tigers on Saturday, May 8, 2010. I am sure it will be a good game but also a great way to hang out with people we typically only see at church.  Since we ordered a block of them, we got a discount on the price. On Friday night the Westshore Forum met at Patrick and Ruth’s home and then we traveled down to the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Marilyn functioned as our guide and Kevin was always ready to throw in his 2 center (as usual). It was a rather fast tour, but we saw it all from weapons and suits of armor to the abstract art. Following our trip to the Museum we proceeded to enjoy some marvelous sushi. We are now planning an event for april.

The Westshore Forum’s next event is going to be an outing at the Cleveland Museum of Art. We would like to invite you to join us for a fun-filled evening full of art and fine food. What is in that Tea?

The Westshore forum opened with a great game night on January 8th 2010 at Patrick and Ruth Yarnevic’s home in Lakewood. Ruth treated us to some great tea and coffee and we playing an interesting parlor game called “What’s Yours Like?” which consisted of a person guessing a specifed object (on the card) only with the aid of the groups’ giving descriptions. Despite the snow and cold of January in Cleveland, this Westshore Forum game night was welcomed warmly by all.
